I am trying to get into a massage school but they have no loan programs or financial aid. I am a single mother of 2. I can't get a loan because of credit. Does anyone have any ideas to help? The school name is Holston Institute of Healing Arts in Grey TN.

You can try to get scholarships.
http://www.fastweb.com
http://www.finaid.com/scholarships...
http://www.scholarships.com
You can also use google.
Example: scholarships + women
scholarships + parent
scholarships + nontraditional student

You can also try and write letters to local businesses. I have a formula on how to do this. Please email me if you'd like it.

And you can try Sallie Mae. Http://www.salliemae.com
(it is somewhat high interest but don't have strict credit requirements)

To get more information go to your college's financial aid office and ask to see a financial aid counselor. If you don't live nearby you can call their 1-800#

hello. I am a single mother, and I am in college right now. i am young and have no credit... n i receive financial aid. this is how it works... you need to fill out a fasfa form (either onlilne or pick up a copy at the school of your choice- they should have them in the office). fill it out, and send it in (if you pick it up from ur school, u should be able just to turn it back into them). If you are elligible, u will receive a pell grant- this is money for school credits, books,... that does not have to be paid back. Being that u are a single mother, i am 99% positive you are elligible- unless ur a millionaire. Because if you make lots of money, then you will have to get a student loan. Student loans do not go by credit. You will definitely be able to get one... but i know you'll get that pell grant instead. however, if you do get a student loan, you don't have to start paying it back until after you graduate. No matter what you decide, please fill out the fasfa!! You really must anyways, schools will always let you know before you register, that you NEED to fill out your fasfa!! I am excited to hear that you are interested in college! It will change your life-- i know it sounds crazy, but trust me-- it's hard being a single mom, i know. But being in college, working toward what you really want in life, knowing that you are bettering your life and the lives of your children, will over joy you! It is a lot of work, especially with young ones, but the help is out there... especially for us single mothers. Take advantage of it and enjoy your career, and your family!! Once again, I am Extremely happy for you... and those young ones!! :D Good Luck with all!

If your school does not offer loan programs or financial aid, it is because they are ineligible to do so. Schools must meet certain criteria in order to get approval for federal funds.

I would suggest exploring other schools in the area. A higher-end school will offer aid.

If your heart is set on this one, you may be able to find scholarships. Fastweb is the best source I know of.
