The old covenant was to remind a rather rebellious mankind, on a constant basis, how far short they fall upon doing God's will. Sort of like marshal law upon an area of extreme lawlessness. It wasn't meant to remain permanent. This was done to set an example or a precursor of Godly rule. Don't forget, these were people who after a short time, decided to melt down the very gold that Jehovah provided for them, to make an image of a golden calf and worship it.

I've always felt that a good burning at the stake is more social, you can bring the family and have a barbecue and beer after. stoning is just so messy and you tend to get a bit hyper after.

Don't be a Pharisee. The purpose of the law is much more important than the letter of the law. If he is setting aside time to relax and be with God, then that's fine.

Of course not.
I don't live by the Old Testament. I use it only for historical background, though Proverbs and Psalms are both very interesting.

But if he didn't work, who would create my perfect Dolce Cinnamon, Non-fat, Half Caf, touch of whipped Latte?
I say let him work man! I need my Starbucks fix before going to church to pray for his sins. (or something like that - what do I know?)

You may stone him, only if you can spell the gerundal form correctly.

why would you want to stone a potential Christian? why would you want to kill anyone?
Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.
