My friend and I used to use code names in school about a guy she liked. It was Garfield. I was making a joke and the nickname stuck. You could use like Snoopy or Goofy or something like that, Mickey might work (cause it's an actual person's name). It's just less obvious than something that you would call your boyfriend that you are involved with.

I stopped nicknaming my crushes once I left the eigth grade for some reason; not because I thought the nicknaming was immature but it was coincidence I believe. However, I nicknamed one "Phyre" (pronounced "fire"); the other "Bruno" (because he was a brunet and I did not know his name"; and the other "Squint" because he often had this fierce expression with his eyes that I thought was distinct is cute.

There was someone I liked for a long time and his hair was really soft so I called him fuzzy the penguin 😊 he started calling me fluffy the penguin after we started dating
