This is an odd question. A friend and I have known each other for 4 years. And I do not know how it happened but we fell in love and started dating. The problem is I am 19 and she is 16. Now we are not having sex nor are we going to. We have talked about it and, she said she will wait until she turn 18. But should we even be dating?

The question is not if it is legal or not, as long as we are not having sex it is legal. The question is is it morally right or is she to young?

You can't help who you fall in love with. And at those ages, it isn't that far a part. If you are serious about her then why not wait, I'm not saying break up but just wait for the sex or you'll get in trouble. When she is 18 you will be 21 and that is OK. I think go for it and see what happens.

In some states because you are considered an adult at 19, it is illegal to be sexually active with a minor. But really 3 years is not a big gap to be worried about as long as your willing to wait to take the relationship to another level. My husband and I are 9 years apart. He is older than me. I don't see a problem with the age difference as long as you are respecting her decision to wait. Since you have been friends for so long is seems you truly do care for her so I feel that dating is fine....unless her parents have a problem with it. If they do you may want to consider waiting till she's a little older.

No harm in dating. Keep in mind that there is a different outlook on relationships between your two ages. You would be smart to postpone sexual activity, a legal problem after a breakup would be your problem to handle. That is not to say that a breakup will occur, it is just always smart to keep trouble out of your life.

I don't think it is a good idea. It is OK to be friends but this person is older and has a more developed Brain. Meaning you could be easily manipulated. Though I am not you mom and you are going to do what you want. Just be careful.
