'Prey' implies that there are victims. I don't understand how it applies. If you're talking about those who only claim to speak for God, that's not fair to those who are sincere. You seem to think that Christianity has some kind of cast system in which some are better than others, but that's not what the Bible says. It says we are all the same and are all saved the same way. So who are the victims? And how can you claim that Christians do good things only when they mention God? You'd have to be all-knowing to know that. It's never bad to mention God unless you are only being self-righteous or are trying to gain from it. That I can understand people getting upset about, and I know that it happens.

As a person of faith, I help the poor because they are my brothers and sisters. Doesn't matter where they live, the color of their skin, or what faith they are. I don't mention God when helping because I personally don't feel comfortable in making my faith a condition for aid. I would hope we've come a long way from the Christians of centuries ago who forced native Indians to become Christian when in truth the Indians had rich religious traditions and beliefs of their own. I believe in respecting the people I help, including their choice of faith. If they ask about my experience of faith, I'll tell them but otherwise not. Anyway I figure action speaks louder than words. I volunteered as a live-in person with the homeless for 2 years and it was a transforming experience for me. I also went last year to help clean out houses that had been flooded in New Orleans.

That happened in Indonesia, when they had a tidle wave.
those were very wicked people, who sold there children to be used for sex. They were poor and people went there with money and exploted them. Rich went there because they could do anything they wanted to do.
When the christians came to help they were told if they preached to them they wouldn't accept the food and help.
I would have said then starve. But they didn't they helped anyway and still delivered the food and clothes and medicine.
they went back or stayed with their pagan beliefs.
They showed no appreciation for the help and the next time they had an earth quake not so many were so anxious to help them. Now when foreign countrys have problems people are reluctant to help. Because they don't show any appreciation.

I'm sorry that you feel that religious people "prey" on those that they try to help. I don't see it that way. I see it as trying to help people not only financially, but spiritually as well. We mean the best when we try to "convert" people. But understand that people generally cannot be converted against their will.
For the record though, when I've gone and fed the homeless, I've not mentioned God at all.

Some people help the poor because they are kind and generous. Some do it in order to be recognized for doing it whether it be on a small scale or a large one. For some it does not matter if the world knows or just their small social group. If it makes them feel good about themselves that is their reward.

Sorry to say, but not all religious people are like that...I was actually just asking a guy about his missions going to other countries to help other people...Americans need help, too...some people sincerely have a natural love for others and want to help them...some people feel that helping them to learn about God will help them more than just giving them material things...Jesus and his disciples had no home, but with people's love and faith they were always taken care of

Churches not only help the poor, they build hospitals and schools and do many other works of charity. Exposure to God is not mandatory, tho many give them the oportunity to know about God in the belief that God can help with many problems inherent with poverty.

Sad... Some people would still do the right thing I'm sure, but others...I guess they probably wouldn't.
