IS AN 8 handicap in golf good?

8 handicap is pretty good. Handicaps range from 28 to 0 conventionally, the lower the better. Someone playing of an 8 handicap should average 8 over par for a round. Pro's play on alot harder courses and average 4 under par.

Yes it puts that golfer in the top 1% that play the game...but then theres the thing called the cocktail handicap...thats the number that sounds good at the party; but in real life if ya got to putt em all out...its becomes a 18 handicap...but really a 18 is pretty good too.

8 is very good. It means the player will shoot around 80 consistently.

The best I've ever been is a 10. Now I'm about a 14.

MOST golfers are over an 18, meaning they shoot in the 90's (which is still pretty good) and a lot of them shoot around 100 (which is about a 30 handicap).

18 is around the line between "average" and "good". So if you can shoot in the 80's, you're pretty good.

8 is around the line between "good" and "really good". These players shoot consistently in the 70's.

Very good, but then come's the hard part trying to get from 8 to 0 take's the game of golf to a hole new level.

if you have an 8 handicap , you have played enough to know how good that is.

It depends on your definition of good. For a professional golfer, it is not good. For a top amateur who is competing to win the US Amateur, it is not good enough. But for a local amateur and for golfers in general, it is very good -- top 1% of all golfers.

if its a true 8 you bet....I'd die to have an 8. I can only remember my youth when I was a 9......now....oh well ....you get my drift lol
