Go to http://www.pcpitstop.com/
and run "Full Tests". If your system is at 100% compared to identical computers then you need to upgrade your hardware.
If it is below 100% , pcpitstop will offer hints to improve performance.

Also it will list what programs can be removed from the startup list to improve performance.

If you can run the game disconnected from the internet you could turn off you spyware/ virus protection, and firewall while you play the game and then enable them before connecting to the internet. This will give you as much memory and CPU as possible.

You might also be able to run the game at a lower resolution.

Make sure you do not have spyware/viruses on your computer. Update your anti virus and run a full scan.

Run "check disk" check both options and restart. (runs a long time) Run Disk Cleanup then Disk Defragment.

Microsoft is one helpful company - please refer to the link below, it has some nice pictures:

Having said that he major problem is lack of RAM or memory for the games you want to play. Your system is not powerful enough to play the games well so you have two options:

Buy a new stick of Ram
Play the games with lower graphics settings

Have you defragmented your hard drive?
Have you done a full computer virus scan?

If you haven't done those, do so now.
If you have, and it's still slow, restart the computer.
If it's STILL slow...Too bad for you....
