I've been on it for 2 years and it has definitely helped.
The problem is that is has helped me only feel OK at best, and NOT GOOD OR GREAT.
Then again I once had a doctor tell me that you don't want a medicine make you feel good; Because if it does it means you're high! The problem with being high is that it is only temporary.
Lol

Some of the side effects, as others have mentioned, kinda come along with these type of drugs. Docs do not know how the drug will affect you until you try it. It's a wait and see kinda thing unfortunately. The only thing that I know about Wellbutrin is that is lowers the seizure threshold. Meaning, it elevates your risk of developing a seizure if you are prone to them. There are many antidepressive medications out there and some work differently than others. This would be something to discuss the pros and cons with your doc.

I took Wellbutrin for a while but had to get off of it when I got pregnant. I had no sight effects but it didnt give any change to me at all. I was still depressed. I really think that depression is a state of mind and you need to pray, but if you are not a praying person, try eating healthier food and exercising. I found that that helps sooooooo much. Plus you get to maintain good health. I also like juicing with Jack Lellaines power Juicer. It is the bomb!! Sometimes depression isnt really depression either. It could be that you are in an abussive relationship and you need to get away from the person that is getting inside your head. They dont necessarily have to hit you to be abusive.

As you can see from the various responses, each individual reacts differently. Its important to understand that different antidepressants target different chemicals. It is important that you discuss this decision with your health care provider to see if it is the right fit for you.
When I was switched from Effexor to Wellbutrin, I had a very bad reaction. It made me very edgy, increased my anxiety, and worsened my depression. Basically I turned into a miserable, angry, SOB. I know others who have been on it for years with no problems at all.
Bottom line - you and your doctor will work together to see if it is the right fit for you.

I understand your need for input from others on this med but as you can see, like all meds, it will vary.
I have been on Wellbutrin for years. I haven't had any side effects. I'm on it with another antidepressant called Cymbalta. Quite frankly, when I started with a new Pshy Dr. she was surprised I was on Wellbutrin and it was helping. Her patients don't get much help from it. But she kept me on it,but eventually we needed to add another med.

The only thing that i really have to say is that it helped me to loose some weight. It helps to boost your metabolism and whatnot so it doesn't have the weight gain side effect. But like someone else said on here it has helped me feel ok but not great or estatic or anything. i still have stress and anxiety, just not the world is horrible and i hate everything type of feelings anymore. I would go on something else but i don't have a doc to talk to at the moment so i would advise you to talk to your doctor. he is the only one who can tell you what you really need.

first week is terrible, lack of energy, feeling like you're in a walking sleep and so on...
after that, I've noticed that it helps.
