If I ssh to linux and want to be doing three different things in tandem - is it possible to create three virtual sessions within the one ssh session? Of course I realize I could open up three ssh sessions. But sometimes I could see it would be more handy to say start a script and then use some key combo to jump to another session where I'm in another directory where I could do something else. How do you create the extra sessions and jump between the sessions - if that's possible at all?? Thanks.

Ok here you are, I prefer the first one.

Option A (easier).
1. Download putty or SSH Secure Client (both free)
2. Access your SSH using a private key
- You'll be able to open as many putty windows as you like, always switching between them with a Windows ctrl+tab

Option B (dearly-won)
1. Buy SecureCRT, login once and open as many tabs as you like.

Option C (cute)
1. Access your server as you normally do.
2. type
# screen
3. You'll get a virtual terminal
4. Press ctrl+alt+D to detach from the vterm
5. Go to step 2

PS. Option C requires the "screen" command to be installed.
