I was told that you serve white and not red wine. Is this true?

NO, it is absolutley not true! Chardonnay ois a white which is so heavy, that it would almost overpower a delicate fish. You want to match your wine to your flavour. For garlicky dishes, go with a rose or a pinot grigio. For heavier seasoned dishes (salt or tariyaki) try a pinot noir. It is a common misperception that whitemeat=white wine. Salmon with lemon goes amazingly well with a pinot grigio. Hope this helps.

Definitely serve a white wine. Depending on the sauce the fish is served in depends on the fullness of the wine. If it is a light buttery sauce, serve Riesling if you want sweet and Pinot Grigo if you do not want so sweet. If you serve the fish in a heavy sauce like Alfredo, serve a full bodied wine, like Chardonnay! Even a White Zinfandel could go well with fish!

The general rule of wine is the color of the wine matches the color of your meat... Red wine, red meat, white meat, white wine, and then fish and poultry is a blush (not white like most people here have been saying)....

However, the most important thing to remember is to complement - not compete with - the flavor of your food. Is your food really strong in flavor? A softer wine will be better on the pallate, etc...

If you go to your local wine store and tell them what you're making, they'll be able to recommend something.

A white dry wine is awesome with fish or seafood.

Yes, when eating seafood it is best to pair with a white whine. It rests easier on your pallet. With fish, you can have anything from a chardonnay to a pinot grigio, depending on your taste buds. Oh, just so you know, you can buy a cheap wine, because they are just as good as any 100$ bottle.

yes its true. white or pink wines will compliment the palate with seafood or any kind of bird, except for duck. with duck, you need to serve a red wine, because its darker meat.

white wine for sure. I would reccomend a pinot greigio or a chardonay. Both are light and dry and compliment the delicacy of seafood.
