my wife was told just to keep paying the minimum requested and not to worry they would sort it out with me when i came outi am glad i was not in there the full 2and a half years god knows what iwould have owed after that amount of time.

Oh dear, i'm so sorry, is this like adding insult to injury or what?
The credit card company can't say that they were not advised of your circumstances - they record everything nowadays!
I afraid you are liable though as you have an agreement with them.
My advice would be to balance transfer to a new card that won't charge you interest for a year or whatever (this will give you a chance to pay off some of the balance). Have a look at the tv ads and see which is best at the moment.
The new card i got (hsbc) is interest free on balance tranfers up until April 2008.

Best of Luck. x.

I am not sure on that one. My ex worked in law enforcement and he told me once that if you spend longer than 6 months in jail then your debts are wiped out. Don't know if that is true here in the US or not--never had to worry about it yet.
I would contact a lawyer about it. It would make sense that you would be liable for the interest charges but I am sure there can be exceptions made for such cases.

If they accepted minimum payments from your wife, they would have accepted larger payments. If she didn't have the money because YOU were in jail, that's your fault. The credit card company isn't responsible for whatever sent you to prison. I don't actually care what the legal answer to your question is.

I REALLY DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION, BUT I HOPE SO, BECAUSE I MIGHT HAVE TO GET MY HAND DOWN AND SUPPORT YOU, AS I DID WHEN YOU WENT TO PRISON.
