If you know you're not going to like the answer?

Regardless of how tactfully someone asks/answers a question, if it's not what you want to hear/read you'll still get bent all out of shape. I find that reaction wide spread here on Yahoo!Answers.

So...why get outraged for people answering with truthful opinions? Do you really like people lying to you just to be politically correct?

I prefer to be honest with my opinions.

"If you aren't going to like the answer then, don't ask the question"

Thanks for the cookie-hope I don't get crumbs in my keyboard. I have noticed a trend in R&S over the few months that I have been a member of YA. Some non-believers ask questions that appear to be truly seeking answers about being a Christian and get the usual variety of answers from both believers and non-believers. Many of the non-believers answers resort to name calling and rude comments about any who believe and most of the responses by believers get several thumbs down. When a believer asks for help with a problem, they get the same variety of responses from both believers and non-believers with most of the answers by believers getting several thumbs down. It appears that many non-believers are very active in giving thumbs down to any answer that doesn't fit their lack of belief. The ones that bother me the most are the questions from non-believers that are obviously mocking any who believe and just trying to stir up a controversy. Of course any answer given by a believer in that sutuation will be given a thumbs down. Then there are the non-believers who ask questions regularly in R&S then complain about believers shoving their beliefs down the throat of non-believers. If they don't want to hear about salvation, why are they even asking questions in this section. Thanks again for the cookie-it was delicious.

Sometimes people want the opinion of people like themselves - I do not have a problem with that,

I agree on some people wanting a certain answer - I got 9 thumbs down on 2 questions this week that were answers quoted from 3 news sources but it did not fit the rantings of the moment. Truth is never wrong & wanting something to be a certain way does not make it so.

So... when you say 'truthful opinions' do you mean, truthful meaning sincere? Or truthful as if the opinion coming from the person is fact? Because, opinion is just that. An opinion. Not fact, or false.
But if you meant it as in a sincere opinion, then yeah, I don't understand why people get bent out of shape on that either. Except that it's a message forum, and people can speak their mind freely (in accordance to the terms, of course ;P) and some people just do that to get stress and bitter feelings off their chest. Or, more likely, they just like to mess with people. ;-) So try and not let it bother you so much.

hot damn! i love chocolate chip...

pardon me if i speak with my mouth full, but this whole thing, this yahoo answers is more a collection pool for opinions than information. these opinions range from moderate to radical, but whatever the controversy is, human opinion likes to scream out "i'm right, you're wrong!"

Freidrick Neitschi (or some spelling of it) once said "This is my way. what is your way? THE way does not exhist" Which makes sense in a very simple fassion. Unfortunately, many are still stuck in the rut that is "my way or the highway"

Deep down they want to hear the truth, but at the same time they are convicted and it makes them angry, so they put up a defense--called pride.
But yes, many ask and do not receive the response they were hoping to get. I think many just really want to know there is another "way" to heaven---but we who are saved and those who are being saved, know it is only the power of God that saves, and that Jesus is the only way, truth and life (John 14:6) Hopefully many non christians on here realize we who are saved CARE! That is why we answer them, and share the truth with them.

People ask questions about God because deep down in their
hearts they are really looking and hoping for a change in their
life. So some people ask questions and more questions just to see if something could become real in their life so as to fill
that emptiness they feel when they are all alone or when they
have problems.

They ask the question not to get the answer. They ask the question to trip you up.
They ask the question to get a rise out of you.
When it backfires, they get upset.
The ones I find the most dangerous are the ones that have access to bible search tools and have a smattering of the bible.
There is one here on yahoo answers that is very knowledgeable.

EXACTLY!! THANK YOU =)

1 Cor.1:18
2 Thess. 2:10-12
Rom.3:4
Jn.18:37
Matt.7;13,14
Prov.4:19
Prov.17;15
Prov.16;6
Prov.12:15
Prov.22:8
Prov.29:1
Prov.16;25
John 7:7
John 3:19
Rom.1.

In reality, all of their anger is not of this world...it is truly from satan who is raging against God and in his total defeat by Jesus!! =)
The militant homosexuals, for instance, already KNOW what they are and choose to be and yet they, as Bill O'Reilly, want to have their life-style choice EMBRACED and AFFIRMED by all society -- in the name of "tolerance" and "diversity".....
Read Is. 3:9....Their anger towards the world is just the proof that DEEP down inside they KNOW that what they are doing is WRONG and that one day they ARE going to stand before God and give account and they just can't deal with that and so they want the world to go on telling them lies that they can live with instead of having to face the truth and do something about it before it's forever too late.... =(
They would rather believe the lie that CHRISTIANS are trying to damn them to hell when really it is their own conscience that
is trying to warn them to turn away and choose LIFE...
God said -- I set before you life and death, blessing and cursing --- therefore choose life.....

It's the same thing with the "militant" atheists or however they choose to see themselves....They want to believe the LIES of satan and they don't want the TRUTH that will contradict those lies....and so they go totally ballistic....

.It's like the way the liberals get toward George Bush...and it's not just about the war in Iraq....the hatred and anger comes as a reaction to the fact that he truly is a Christian believer and that is a reproach to them and their beliefs and thus it is SATAN going ballistic THROUGH them!!! In the natural, it is hard to comprehend the hatred of the liberals towards Pres. Bush and conservatives, but when you KNOW what is really going on in the spirit realm and who's behind it, it makes more
sense. It's not just pathological. It's satanic. Just like the hatred
of Israel and towards the Jewish people, especially from the extremist islam terrorists, etc. and from hitler....It ALL comes from satan....

I really like what Jesus told the pharisees at the end of John, chapter 9. They really walked right into that one, didn't they?!

And in the whole chapter of John 8, Jesus addresses the hatred and hostility of the pharisees towards Him and the message that He came to share with mankind....and He told them that they were of THEIR father, satan....

Yes - the pharisees and such were ALWAYS trying to ask questions to provoke Jesus. so that they could use it against Him...and not because they had any real interest in what He was trying to teach them about God and His kingdom.....

I was reading some of the other answers that were already submitted and Eve had a very good take on this question, as did others... =)

I agree with you...I always do my best to give a straight answer
even when I can tell that the question is meant to be rude and even if that person doesn't like what I write - and they don't -- I still answer because there could be OTHER people who DO want to know the TRUTH and at least they aren't as ANGRY in
their responses.....
Like the rest of the p.c. nazi crowd on the left, there will al-ways be those who want to push us out of here by intimidating
us into silence and THAT would be giving satan just what he wants.....right.....and I will NEVER bow down to the P.C.nazis--ESPECIALLY when it comes to OUR right, as believers, to witness our faith and proclaim the gospel to the lost...and God
will surely deal with the others!!!

I leave you with Isaiah 54:17 and Ps.91:10 and Rev.12;10.

GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN ME THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD....

I KNOW IN WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED =)

GRACE AND PEACE TO YOU FROM GOD THE FATHER AND FROM THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.... =)

Everytime I ask certain christians an answer they start on a whole knew subject and never answer my question, that's the only reason I don't like they're answers (even though I'm a christian myself.)

Thanks Immune, I'd love a cookie. Outrage is fun, especially if the rest of your life is a boring proscribed Christian hell. So they love to get outraged. They can experience all their anger, transfer it to others and still remain on Jehovah's good side. Works for everyone

I'll pop the kettle on...
