when someone tries to take advantage of your christianity by using you for their own personal gain? what is your reaction?

for example, I had someone in my life once that I really cared about deeply, tried to counsel (this person sought me out for that purpose, I didn't push or force it) and because I didn't condone adultery, this person walked away...I still think of said person, still feel concern for the situation he is in...but I have no contact with him anymore...and as far as I know, he is still in the adulterous relation, and a marriage was broken up in the process...nothing further I can do, but I can't help but still be concerned.

Bring it to their attention. Maybe they don't know their doing it. I'm sure they'd rather you say something about it so they can work on it, instead of losing you as a friend. You can't fix something if you don't know it's broke. Let them know before your friendship is too damaged. You obviously care about that person, or you wouldn't ask that question. God would want you to set a good example and try and forgive and start over, than to just give up. God doesn't bring people into our live's "by chance". If it's not too wearing on you, you might just be the one that God chose to humble that person with constructive critism, and back it up with scripture. But, that could be the co-dependant talking in me.

I believe it i shard to walk away but that's really the easy way out. But it always good to know enough about God to stand up for him and your beliefs.

I attempt to help them three times and then turn them over, as does God, to their reprobate mind.
