Most people don't realize that many Russian submarines carrying nuclear missile are stationed very close to the territorial waters of the US. It takes only 3 minutes for a nuclear misslile launched from a sub to reach major US cities. In contrast, our missiles have to fly for half an hour before reaching the Russian soil. 3 minutes is not enough time to figure out whether the launch of a missile is the beginning of an attack.

Russia is becoming more and more agressive and some people say that it is moving towards establishing a fascist regime. Many Russian nationalists and many Russians in general hate the US and would like to see our country destroyed.

Don't kid yourself, the Russian navy is a mere shadow of its former self. The hair triggers from US SLBMs and Trident silos in the dakotas, makes a pre-emptive strike meaningless for Russia anyway.

Now don't start that again. You really want another Cold War? We've got missiles all over the world too, and response is a pretty inane issue. If Russia launches nukes, we're already dead whether ours launch or not. Our missiles won't undo theirs, they'll just irradiate the other half of the planet too.

What? You obviously know nothing about how the old Soviet system crumbled as did the Berlin wall. That country has all it can do right now to keep their navy afloat! At least our nuclear capability is extremely high-tech compaired to theirs, and God help the whole planet if it is ever unleashed! The Communist ideology in Russia bankrupted the country. I can't think of one reason why they would want to attack us especially because U.S. oil companies are investing billions of dollars under contract to develop the huge ammounts of reserves in Siberia. The cold war is over. The new war is against radical Muslims. Catch up on your current events.

No, once Russia attacks, while the missiles are up there, the US will launch missiles too. and they probably have the same subs in their coast.

All we have to do is push a button and a couple missiles are launched. they are already aimed and programed to hit major Russian Cities, they are just waiting for the command. If Russia did shoot something, we have ways of detecting that and we would be able to retaliate, although there is nothing we could do about getting hit ourselves.

Instead of being sarcastic, maybe you people could just answer the question for him or her. Mayber you're being sarcastic because you don't know the answer yourself and you're trying to hide it.....

Whose fault is that?

Who stopped progress on nuclear disarmament?

Who needs to learn diplomacy from the ground up?

Go figure!
