Let's say you say you love someone, but s/he or someone else tells you you aren't. You look at a comparison of

what is love and infatuation, and you find that you fall under infatuation at least twice only because you aren't together, and you fall under love mostly because you really care for the person?

You can care about someone & not love them. For example: I care about my boss, but I don't love her. Maybe you need to reevaluate your feelings & stop letting people tell you how YOU feel. Love is tricky because sometimes love isn't really how you feel. Nor do you have to be with someone to love them.
