No, it goes against the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Art. 38, (1989) which proclaimed: "State parties shall take all feasible measures to ensure that persons who have not attained the age of 15 years do not take a direct part in hostilities."

The Optional protocol on the involvement of children in armed conflict to the Convention that came into force in 2002 stipulates that its State Parties shall take all feasible measures to ensure that persons below the age of 18 do not take a direct part in hostilities and that they are not compulsorily recruited into their armed forces.


Bottom line - 17 yr old is the best you can do with a parent's signature.

That would mean kids dropping out of school to join the military. Since the military strives to only take kids with at least a high school diploma (or GED equivalent), I don't see this happening. Plus that puts kids joining below the age of consent...thus involving the parents. Again...I don't see that happening.

I think you need to stay in spelling class first and if your English skills are ANY indication of what the recruiters are getting the answer is NO!

I think if you are a high school graduate, 17 and have your parents signature you can go in.

Perhaps, but you would probably STILL need to pass a basic intelligence test and ....don't think you can manage that yet Bubba
