My old school was about $6,500 per semester, so about $13,000 a year.

But $13,000 a year doesn't cover textbooks (about $55 dollars each) uniforms, other materials, feildtrips (usually in the thousands for the big yearly trip and in the hundreds for regular ones)

And not to mention all of the donations (private schools are big on them!)

So in general, it cost WAY more than public school

We are sending our daughter to 5 k (kindergarten) next year at a christian private school . The cost is just $3,000. That is strictly tuition and does not include books and fees and registration fees and uniforms. Another local private school in our area that is not religion based is about $6,000 a year just for the tuition.

I looked into both schools but the price for the private christian academy was a better for us financially and they have religion classes to help her further understand christian values.

We live in coastal Alabama. I am sure the prices vary by region. Class size at both schools are similar : 10 at the christian school and up top 12 at the other private academy .

It greatly depends on the area and school. $10000 per year would probably be a good number for a good prep school.
