Well when my Dad and I went to buy our M1 Garand we were told that you should get insurance for your rifle and give your insurance company your rifles serial number. Then if its stolen you report it. The insurance is susposed to help you get some money back if it gets stolen and then if your rifle is found they can trace it back to you and then next thing you know you are shooting again!
So I guess you go and report it to your insurance comany (if you got insurance) and the cops. And if you don't report it the next thing you know you are going to be the next OJ Simpson except you will go to jail even though you didn't do it.

Call the police dept or the sheriff depending on where you live. Theft of a firearm is a felony....and even though very few people, if any, are ever prosecuted for it, failure to report it is a crime, too.
If the firearm is ever used in a crime, if there's any possible trail to follow, they'll come looking for you....and you'll want the protection of having filed it stolen.

Call the police right now and file a official report. This is importnat becasue if the gun is use in a crime or something like that you will not be held accountable.
All the best!

Tell the police to check the local hospital for a guy missing his hand and limping for the rest of his life?
You need to buy a gun safe and properly install it.

contact the local law enforcement immediatly. both the sherriff's office and the police dept. give them make model and most importantly the serial number. if you were silly enough not to write this number down call the store you bought it from and request this info. they keep records for 20 years.
