GSD's are prone to a host of allergies which affect the skin. causing hot spots( raw areas). my advice to you would be to take you dog to the vet to be tested, also check for fleas. in the mean time though you might want to look into a pet product made especially for hot spots there are quite a few on the market and can be found at most pet stores. you can also try giving your dog a bath with pet shampoo that has oatmeal in it to help relieve the itch...hope this helps you a bit!

Skin conditions in dogs should be evaluated by a vet. There's a possibility he might need an antibiotic.

I don't know of any skin conditions that WGS dogs have that others don't. With horses, if they have white around their eyes and noses, they can get sunburned. A dogs hair is longer so they probably wouldn't be as proned. My WGS is a housedog so I don't have this problem.
Aren't they great dogs!
