There is small number of vocal activists that believe aspartame (the artificial sweetener in most diet sodas) is linked to the development of brain tumors and brain lesions, among other things.

They've spent more than 20 years trying to prove their claims but have yet to do so.

You will probably be hearing from some of these people shortly.

There are studies showing some artificial sweetners lead to an increase in brain cell loss or even brain cancer... But they're all pretty unsupported, and even if it does, it'd be a matter of drinking like 8 gallons of soda a day over 20 years to really notice a difference.

Lets put this way ,I have been drinking diet soda for a long time and I have enough brain cells still working to be able to function pretty normally .So drink what you want and do not worry about such things.

my doctor explained to me that the aspartame in diet drinks causes the serotonin in your brain to become imbalanced. and especially if you are having any kind of emotional problems to not drink them because it can make your condition worse... i was drinking nothing but diet drinks to keep from gaining weight but with all the chemicals that's in those things i decided to quit and i have never felt better.

visit sweetpoison.com. You'll read that different people react to it differently. Some with migraines, some with nausea. Some don't report any reactions but there's no telling the true longterm effects.
