I really don't like naming this as a Christian vs Atheist debate... and I don't like calling Atheists or any other non-Christian an enemy.
That said.
I am not going to name names, but there are some whom I particularly like. There are some who I kind of cringe when I see their questions... but God has placed it on my heart not to take offense and not let it get personal... love is the operative force here. There a few of the admitted atheists and a couple of I think Wiccan or more New Age who I find hilarious and a couple of Atheists who I am often staggered by their head knowledge of bible verse. I often think though, they had better be very careful or one day they might accidentally have and epiphany and they will have to abandon the atheist view.
I will admit that there have been a couple of "Christians" who've posted, who I think have been particularly hateful. They are the ones I struggle with the most.

I think peoples' religious affiliations are largely circumstantial. I have plenty in common with people who consider themselves to be "Christian." Some of them are actually capable of reason, morality - even spirituality! - in spite of nominally adhering to a religion that inhibits all these qualities. Meanwhile some "atheists" are ignorant, dogmatic bigots, even though they claim to confess no creed.
Do I admire some "Christians"? Sure. But not for their Christianity. Is that "hating the religion, but not the religious"? Not really. I DO think that in proportion as people take orthodox religion seriously, their reason, morality and spirituality - among other qualities - tend to decline. I can get along with many "Christians" only because they don't take their religion to its natural conclusions. Those who do - the "fundies" - ARE utterly loathsome to me - and I to them, I'm sure!

Ahem, not all believers are Christians. There are non-Christian believers in God too. There are other religions besides Christianity.
Do you mean Believers vs. Atheists? I don't see it as a team sport, I take one question at a time.
There is an atheist I do admire, because he shows himself to be very intelligent and not belittling anyone, at least not in my eyes. That person is acid zebra nonprophet. Ah yes, I *LOVE* travel, so I really enjoy his photos from around the world. : ^ )

I can't think of an atheist I admire, this is probably because I probably admire them for something other then their religious (or lack there of) belifes so I don't associate them with being an atheist.
I would say I'm embarased by a lot of people who claim to be on my "team".

Yeah. My grandmother. Also, Billy Graham seems to have lived fairly admirably. There have been hundreds of faithful Christians that I admire. There hasn't always been the proof of science that we have today. I don't hold that against the old or the dead.

You as a Christian has the obligation to preach the good news according to Matthew 24:14 and Matthew 28:19,20 and also in Romans 10:10 that with the heart you excercise faith for rightousness, but with the MOUTH one makes public declaration for salvation. Is their option if they want to hear or not the truth but is YOUR obligation to tell them. Besides Jesus Christ said that you should love your enemy and that means also respect for their beliefs.

there are more religions then christians and athiests - atheist means someone who believes there is no god or any deity out there - muslims, jews, and pagans (just to name a few) all believe in god under one name or another - and they are not playing for any team - none of them is the enemy - just because they dont believe the same thing as you do - i asmire anyone who can stand up and be proud of thier religion without putting down anyone of another religion

Is it really getting down to "Teams," now. As I am of none of the teams in this place, I admire any that can give me a true proven fact I have not already and I can store amongst others for comparison.
