Subtle trim offerings and a bit of new options as far as trim levels, like a previous poster mentioned. 05-07 Grand Cherokee's in my experience of performing service on them, are quite prone to 4x4 system issues. Jeep decided to abandon its long staning reputation of bulletproof mechanical 4x4 systems and went at least semi-electric starting in 05. This caters to the folks who buy Grand Cherokee's and other SUV's...you can't expect mama or Mr. Middle Management to shift his own 4 WD can you? That would atually make someone think for themselves and have an excellent and reliable system. That being said, yes, Jeep sold out and went "high tech". Lots of problems with those new electrics that probably won't be figured out for another model year or two. That's why you never buy a first year body style without a really good warranty.

there is no Jeep cherokee built 05-07 the cherokee was replaced by the liberty. Now if your asking about the Grand Cherokee no difference except the addition of the SRT-8 in 2006

properly they started making "fullsize cherokees" in the 60s untill the 80s and known because it a jeep SJ. From 1984 to 2001 the downsized cherokee (the single you have) became referred to as the cherokee xj or purely xj. From 1993 to 1998 they made a Grand Cherokee which became a ZJ. And from 1999-2004 became a grand cherokee wj. while ordering aspects pay interest to the 12 months.

Don't buy any of them until you look into the warranty problems that people are having with Chrysler. It's all over the internet and I'm in the middle of one right now. It's such a huge let down. People warned me but I was a die hard jeep guy. Things have changed...

new trims were added for 2006, the overland and SRT8. the overland comes with a 5.7 Liter V8 and luxurious features and platinum accents. the SRT8 is the more powerful one with a 6.1 L V8 and sportier accents. These trims didn't exist in 2005. For 2007, minor appearance adjustments were made depending on what trim you have such as door handles. the tail lights were updated.
