Because Jesus was supposed to be crucified for our sins. If people intervened and "saved" him (he could have easily saved himself if he wanted..) it would have defeated the purpose of him being born into this world. He was born to die for us. This death was a part of prophecy Peter was already familiar with.

Yeah, i'm exceedingly particular if Christ existed and easily replaced into martyred, he replaced into killed on a bypass. yet I even do no longer know what this scripture has to do with the bypass, a stake, or the different style of impalement or killing. that's advisable to clue some human beings in in this. I do basically not see it. Oh ok. Dude, without verse 19 your submit does no longer make experience. you should comprise verse 19. truly you would possibly want to lose 18 and basically positioned 19 and that can make more beneficial experience. yet sure, this does look to practice, once you study 19, that Jesus replaced into gesturing with fingers out horizontally and not in any respect immediately up and down.

Mat_26:53
Jesus says that not only would Peter endanger himself, but his resistance implied a distrust of the protection of God, and was an improper resistance of his will.
If it had been proper that they should be rescued, God could easily have furnished far more efficient aid than that of Peter - a mighty host of angels.
Twelve legions - A legion was a division of the Roman army amounting to more than 6,000 men. The number “twelve” was mentioned, perhaps, in reference to the number of his apostles and himself. Judas being away, but eleven disciples remained. God could guard him, and each disciple, with a legion of angels: that is, God could easily protect him, if he should pray to him, and if it was his will.
Mat_26:54
The Scriptures which foretold of his dying for the world.
In some way that must be accomplished, and the time had come when, having finished the work which the Father gave him to do, it was proper that he should submit to death. This was said, doubtless, to comfort his disciples; to show them that his death was not a matter of surprise or disappointment to him; and that they, therefore, should not be offended and forsake him.

Jesus knew that He was supposed to be crucified as the ultimate sin offering & He knew that it was His time to be crucified. If Peter or anyone else had been successful in stopping the crucifixion then Jesus would have been born for nothing.

Jesus simply told Peter that this is his moment. Jesus knew he was to be taken that night, which is why he prayed and spoke so earnestly that night (starting at the Last Supper).
No one was to interfere with this plan because it was God's plan. He wanted to give people (everyone) a model to view how they are to live their lives. God knew man would kill Jesus for standing up to the wicked ones of the world. Peter was trying to hinder that because he didn't understand it, so Jesus told him to stop and allow God's plan to proceed.

Martyrism, in the western world we simply cannot grasp that concept, it has no logic or common sense to it, I see it as simply suicide that's all, and in the middle east we get a good picture of it, and the insanity behind it.

Because Jesus of all people was well aware that He was sent here to die. He laid down His life so we can have life.
