It's probably going to be difficult until the younger one gets a little older. I have heard that kids do not understand the concept of sharing until the age of 4. Which probably makes it tough for your 5 yr. old to deal with the 2 yr. olds behavior. I'm sure you get a lot of "but, mom it's not FAIR" from the older one. Hang in there...it will probably just take some growing up on both parts.

Believe it or not, all that bickering is GOOD for them! It will help them in their relationships later in life. My kids are three years apart also, and I'll never forget the day my daughter (who was about 2 1/2 at the time) turned to her brother and said, "You want some of this? Bring it on!"

That is so hard! My kids fight too. But I know that they love each other. I ave started doing time out with both of them and during the time out, instead of yelling, talking, expressing how disappointed I am, why, what I expect in the future and then give them a hug and tell how much I love them.

It's called sibling rivarly, quite "normal" the best way to avoid it is to have only one child LOL. My suggestion is to let them work out their problems on their own and only step in if there are broken bones or severed arteries. The rest they WILL survive.

make them work together to acheive a goal, if they both get together some clothes they get some icecream, since your two year old is probably to young to know colors your five year old will hahve to help her, team work.
