I have a friend who asked me several months back if I could set up her daughters computer to record what she was doing online. I installed a key logger and that was that, or so I thought. Without getting into to much detail, he daughter was looking at things that she shouldn't have been, so her mom took away her computer privledges. She want's to give her computer back now, but doesn't trust her with it and wants me to install a program so that she can monitor her daughters activities without her knowing. I.E. screen shots, Webcam, etc. etc. and want's the ability to shut the computer down remotely if necessary. I explained to her that sub7 would do all of the above, but she doesn't want me to install a trojan. I explained that the server could be password protected, but she still doesn't want sub7 (I guess because of the bad publicity it got. Does anyone know of a program that will allow remote access to screen shots, webcam, keys pressed etc. etc. without being a "virus"

It doesn't need to have file access or anything like that . . . And doesn't have to be installed remotely, I will have phsycal assess to the computer, But it needs to run without detection, and needs to be password secured.

The keyloger I used records the keys pressed, then saves them to the hard drive. So what the heII does that have to do with someone hacking her bank account?

And What the heII does the BIOS have to do with a remote admin tool?

Also, she has already tried the parental controls. . . and people who recomend those have obviously never tried them, they work great for a 5 year old. . . but 12+ no way. . . .

I should have known better than to ask a question like this on yahoo. . . .

Restricting access to your computer:

Most computers allow creating a BIOS password. Without a password your DVD/CD or floppy drives can not be used to boot the computer or reinstall Windows, bypassing all your Windows passwords. It also prevents the hard drives from being used, preventing entering Windows “safe mode” which can be used to modify your passwords.
The bios password can often be easily defeated.

Windows XP passwords:
All accounts must have passwords. Each person must have a separate username and password to sign on the computer. You must have an “Administrative” account. Everyone else should have “Restricted Access” accounts.
Do not enable automatic logon.

Each person (if you allow) should have a separate email account.

A determined person can break or disable or get around all passwords.

Restricting Internet Access

Your internet service provider probably provides a method to control access to the internet. I have ATT they have parental controls to limit access. Each user can have a separate account. A master password is required to change settings. Settings allow selecting for each user: Allowed times during the day; maximum hours of use; set ratings for types of content allowed to be viewed.
