"But soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the East, and Juliet is the sun!
Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
who is already sick and pale with grief
That thou her maid art far more fair than she."

I had Romeo and Juliet in Literatre class. I'm in 8th grade. The book was in original and modern english! Boy was i luck!!!

But wait! What light is coming from that window?
It is the eastern light and Juliet is the sun.
Rise up, beautiful sun, and make the jealous moon invisible.
The moon is already sick and pale with grief
because you, Juliet, are more beautiful than she* is.

she- Romeo is referring to the Roman moon goddess, Diana, in this speech. Diana demanded tha her female followers remain chaste.

Very simple and very easy. It means that Romeo loves Juliet and their is no else that Romeo would reather be with other then Juliet....meaning Romeo and Juliet are both soulmates, and they are meant to be togeather because they are truly, madly, deeply in love with each other..... meaning Romeo would fight and die for Juliet....also meaning Romeo loves Juliet oh so much that Romeo would die for her because they are meant to be togeather and they will not let no grief come in between them what so ever and Juliet will care for Romeo no mater how much Juliet loves her Romeo she will always treat him like number one and Romeo will always treat his Juliet as if she was always number one in his life. I think I know this because I once read the book too and I really love the book even though it is hard to find I remeber hearing that quote from me reading it and I would read it over few times and then it would come to me and I am 95% cerrtin that is excitly what Romeo and Juliet is trying to say because I like to read poetry including poems and I also like to plays sometimes too some that I like to read are like "Romeo and Juliet" . Thank you for taking this time to read this to me I am eight-teen years old this year in June 27, 2007 and my email addresss is www.johnmaruszak@yahoo.com
