My kitten is about 5 or 6 months old. I am afraid she is pregnant. Is there any way to know if she is pregnant or not before visiting the vet???

She can be pregnant even if she is only 5 or 6 months old. If you (gently!) feel her belly, and there are some lumps in there, those are baby kittens.
A vet can also tell you.
PS - Cat abortions? Yuck. Kittens are so cute; it should be easy to find homes for them.

Here is a simple answer, get her spayed. She needs to be spayed anyways, if she is pregnant this will take care of the babies (essentially an abortion) and avoid bringing and more unwanted animals into the world. Plenty of cats that already need homes or that get euthanized simply causer there are too many. So get her spayed and ask the vet if there were any babies were in the uterus when they take it out. By the way bring her in asap because if she is close to her labor date many vets won't spay them because they are worried about complications, the earlier into the pregnancy she is spayed the better.

That's really young to be pregnant, but I just rescued a kitty that's about 6 months old, and very pregnant. SO it is possible. Once they are a few weeks along, they will start to show. You can gently palpate their stomach, to see if you feel kittens or movement. Also, their teets swell considerably, at least midway through.

See if she always lie down on the floor, sleeping.. etc. or when you want to get near her, she will screech or prevent you from doing that.
