What's the biggest lead in the Kentucky Derby? Like how many lengths was it and what horse won it? Because it's been 60 years sense the biggest lead. Because ya know that Barbaro had broke that record this year.

Just would like to know! Thanx!!! ♥

Barbaro didn't break the record for the biggest lead. He had the 2nd fastest winning time in the Derby ever... finishing in just over 2 minutes... second to the great Secrectariat who finished in just under 2 minutes.

Assault finished the Derby leading by 7 lengths... I don't know if that was the biggest lead or not... it probably was.

Barbaro did become the 2nd undefeated horse to win the Derby since Seattle Slew in 1979. The first undefeated horse to win since Slew was Smarty Jones in 2004.

I think that honor still goes to Secretariat. I will clarify something that one of the other respondents said, however- Seattle Slew won the Derby in 1977, not in 1979. He went on to win the Triple Crown that year, and then retired to stud and had a very long and successful career as a sire. He has been called the most influential horse of the late 20th century by some who track such things. Barbaro broke Assault's record when he won by 6 lengths, and nearly succeded in equalling the track record set by Secretariat. That, combined with fact that he was undefeated and had come off a long break without a race, was a large part of why the colt was so popular. ( The fact that his trainer was a first-timer didn't do him any harm either.) Secretariat's lead was 25 lengths, I think- and I know that it was close to 100 lengths later on in his career.

He`s no longer rubbish, thats for particular! triumphing a team 3 via 9? lengths, then next race triumphing the Derby via almost 2 lengths. ok, it became tactical to get daybreak concepts-set overwhelmed. That muddies the waters whilst attempting to asess the fee of the style. Win the Arc? undecided. I`d have some bob each and every way at 12/a million.

Better to know who ran the fastest Derby ever, and that still belongs to Secretariat at 1:59 2/5.
