What is love?

I know what the general meaning of love is, im not that dumb so I dont have to look it up. But to you what is love? In a relationship what makes you love someone? I have to write a journal entry on this for class, and i wanted your opinions. Thanks

Love is when you husband looks at you naked and thinks your sexy after 26 years of marriage.

Humans at some point moved from the tribe to pairs - and investment in the family unit instead of just the group

if you mean "romantic love" or "being in love" (an involuntary feeling) - as opposed to mature love (an intent , committment, as well as a feeling but in a selfless sense) - basically "romantic love" is a late state evolutionary device created probably by accident to some degree that permitted pair bonding among humans and in effect allowed humans to move from the primordials masses to an advanced civilization by in essence causing the Alpha and genetically superior and productive males in the tribe to invest in one woman for a longer period of time than was common versus his normal predispostion to move from female to female -thus permitting longer term investment in society and his offspring

The nuclear family probably evolved from this

Note however even today such being "in love" phase in a pure biological sense generally only lasts 6 months to 2 yrs and depends upon other factors more about will and intent and maturity rather than just (often selfish) feelings of so-called "romantic love". - such factors as marriage, social stigma, the threat of poverty etc

To me love is when I know he's the one. He gives me headaches, my heart beats faster, I start blushing, i feel like falling off a cliff. IN a relationship, is the same thing as any married couple, only they're not married. They love each other, look out for one another, and overcome obstacles.

Love is when you cannot stand to be away from the other person. Your heart beats faster just being around them, you feel like a complete person when you are with them but empty when they are not there. It is WANTING to give of yourself to meet their needs and desires in order to ensure their happiness, even before your own.
