Have checked several sources and cannot find information on this model. I was told T-Tops were optional for that year.

You bet. T-Tops were available on 1987 and 1988 Mustangs. In fact, I think I found one on Craigslist.

examine your throttle body for ordinary deposits... Ford suggested that they had a coating there in spite of the undeniable fact that the coating would not help and also you land up having to scrub the position the throttle plates hit the interior bore of the throttle body, as apparently you at the prompt are not getting adequate maximum superb air/gas blend... clean it with throttle body cleanser you should purchase on the community less expensive automobile elements save. yet another issue is the idle % motor (called a Throttle air bypass on those years) that could nicely be causing some concerns, yet with it operating sturdy until eventually warm idle i'd bypass with huge form a million first. if you're nevertheless operating the older MAP sensor, the ram air shouldn't outcome it until eventually that's too a lot air for the gas coming in.. yet i'd attempt the throttle body route first.
