I have been in a 7 month monogamous relationship and my boyfriend and I are thinking about getting married. Do you think it's love or infatuation? We have so much in common and I feel as if he's the one and vice versa. I know that the feelings that I have for him are far beyond physical because he is like my soul mate. We have so much in common and we are literally like one. It has to be fate that put us together because I was not interested in a relationship at all. It did take me 3 weeks to finally take his calls and speak to him but from that day on we have been inseparable. What's really crazy is that the name that I had picked out for my son happens to be the same first and middle name of his son (exact spelling and all). We are both the same signs and our birthdays are a day apart. We both love the same foods and keep one another laughing. When we are together it's like nothing and no one else exists. We are each others best friend and I could see us growing old together.

Sounds like infatuation to me... just because you only talk about how you have things in common and you like the same foods and you think that you were meant to be together... that doesn't prove it's love.
Give it a little longer before the marriage talk... almost all love has to start with infatuation... and to be honest, you probably don't know this guy as well as you think you do just yet.. give it a year or so, there shouldn't be a rush for marriage and you'll get to know him better. For example, I had a b/f that I thought was just the best thing ever, but he eventually became abusive after about a year... never know what could happen, so don't rush things just yet, but go slow and enjoy getting to know him!

Puppy Love takes its name from the fact that it's about kids, as in little people, like little doggies not full grown. Infatuation is thinking you love someone cuz you like certain things about them. Like when you're all caught up and you get swept up into something with a guy way too fast. True Love is much more deep and serious and has the longest time frame to mature. If you're talking about two people who've been friends since they were small children and grew up, went to elementary and high school, then college together or something, they could all evolve into each other...Have you ever seen the movie Love and Basketball? Well, there's examples of all three there cuz its about the same couple over the years. When The Girl Next Door becomes The One and eventually your wife, I guess. Good Luck with your guy.

First, are you dating a married man? is he a widow? if the answer to the above two questions are YES. then there is no love in a shared love. If he is a divorcey or a widow then all you are feeling for him is right and cannot be a hurtful affection. We human beings can never know each other to the fullest, with every new day different things keep unfolding about each other. My advice is that you keep the flame burning long enough to know your man well enough to decide marriage.

I think you already answered your own question.
If you and he both truly feel this way... then 7 days could be enough, as crazy as that sounds, and may be, what's most important is that it's not a fad, a rebound, or desperation, and to realise things do change with marriage, though maybe they shouldn't.
Men and Women tend to both expect more than what they should've already had and it can be a control issue. However, if neither of you gives into that and has a real sense of trust for being worth it....I think you'll be fine. Good luck to you both

It’s Infatuation, but not to worry. Infatuation is a good thing; often love grows out of infatuation.

If you stay together long enough, you will wake up one day and it will hit you like a ton of bricks – “I love him” at that moment, you will appreciate infatuation for its wonderfulness and understand that it takes time for love to bloom.

I’m happy for you.

I think its good that ya'll get along and all but 7 mths is not enough time to know a person you are about to get married and suppose to spend the rest of your life with but it all depends on how the both of ya'll feel about marriage. Good luck...
