The United States is the only country where circumcision among non-Jewish boys is routine. My children were not circumcized and all that locker room stuff wasn't an issue for them.
I saw a videotape of an actual circumcision before my first child was born. It is excruciatingly painful for the child and it still to this day isn't done with anesthesia for small children. People say the children cry because they are frightened of the wierd experience and completely ignore the fact that the crying starts when the knife cuts into the skin.
In older children and adults anesthesia is used. If you decide to get your son circumcized, insist that anesthesia be used.
I think it's a silly and barbaric cosmetic practice (akin to breast enlargements or botox), but it can be done with pain protection making it at least tolerable, although there will be pain during the healing process.

First of all, circumcision can be done at any age. Death from it may have happened from infection, but I've never heard of it. There are many beliefs of why to circumcise, cleanliness, more sensitivity, etc. But whatever the decision of their parents, it is safe. You can request that a topical numbing ointment be used to numb the area for a local anesthetic shot.
Anyhow, it is safe, and medication can help with any discomfort after wards. I just would question why it is so important now for the father. More and more boys are not being circumcised these days.

I don't think it is an issue of teasing as a child, it is a matter of health. At one there is a slight chance that he will remember it, but it is highly doubtful. HOWEVER if you wait much longer, and do it at an age where he will remember the experience will be horrible for him and yourself, expecially when it comes to the healing. You should do it now, so that you can still monitor the healing, and he won't have much memory of it. Also, deaths by circumcision is NOT typical. This is a very common procedure.
I wouldn't worry about him remembering this procedure at one year of age.

I didn't have my boys circumsized because their father wasn't. Both boys had to be circumsized at age 5 because the skin did not seperate from the head properly. I say if the skin goes back with no problems leave it alone. Its a natural thing to have and I'm told it adds more sexual pleasure.

how is a woman gonna tell you about the sexual pleasure of a circumcized man thats complete horse spit, i know for a fact, and grown men have been known to do it at the age of 25, but only god knows why, ive never heard of deaths from it, but im not sayin it dont happen, but to get to your main question, i cant ever remember being 15 months old, so i dont see how at that age it would be a whole lot different than doing it a couple days after birth, on a psychological level anyway

well, we had a 5 month old baby in respite foster care a few weekends back, and he wasn't circumcised. It's not a necessary medical procedure, and the United States is the only civilized nation who cuts off the end of little boys' wee wees. This is what your son would have to go through. Warning: This is graphic! http://www.cirp.org/library/procedure/plastibell/
Here's a less graphic informative piece. http://pediatrics.about.com/cs/weeklyquestion/a/022002_ask.htm
After all that, if you want to do that to your child, I guess it's your decision.
