It is called in English the initiation of a donkey. If the owner of the donkey does not want the newborn he gives it to the Temple. If he wants it he gives instead kid, a lamb or a calf. Only Kohanim and Isralim may redeem the donkey. Levites are exempt for m this process. Since, we have no Temple today, the Kohanim may take the donkeys instead. Or he can receive goats or sheep.
