The media nowadays is a huge part of it. Compare TV from the 1950s to what's shown today. Look at clothing and the fashions. Look at how much women models have changed, and women's fashions with them. Nowadays, our country is run by the media, and the media stresses that women dress "sexy" like today's top models. And for men, the media says we have to be muscular with a six pack and we have to hide our emotions. It's all twisted.
So it's this kind of stuff that the media warps minds with. So, if you're a virgin not getting any sex, you begin to think that everybody else is having sex because of what the media portrays.
Look at college. Nowadays, young college students straight out of high school don't even talk about the education behind it. It's all about the parties, the beer, and the sex.
Since the media makes everyone believe it's all about sex, they give it a try. Low and behold, sex feels good, so they keep having sex. Then they think dirtier thoughts, and the media changes to fuel their naughty needs. And all this time while everyone's getting around, the virgins feel like losers, and that's why they get made fun of,especially the older they are.
But I agree with you entirely. It's ridiculous how much society worship sex.

I don't know. Media and publicity makes it seem natural, when it isn't. they're sending messages to young kids that it's ok to sleep around and no consequences will happen, but it will raise your self esteem...yeah right. I mean, I wouldn't really no cause I don't have experience with it. But a lot of people say guys are obsessed with sex. It's not true. This girl I was in 8th grade with used to ask people if they were virgins and if they said yes, she'd laugh. I'm pretty sure she's not laughing now. Three of her "friends" are pregnant for the 2nd or 3rd time (since they were 13) and she still brags about it. It's negative publicity. It's telling kids, sleep around and be cool. We used to be worrying about cigarettes, but now we have to worry about them having sex with any person coming in their direction. And media thinks "The more nude women I get on screen, the more rating's I'll get." Which is sadly true...this society is oversexed because we make people think at an early age that they should be doing it too.

same thing applies to why men shouldn't cry or why women shouldn't like football or something...its a stereotype of society - something that isnt true, but everyone thinks it is, so it (supposedly) is. personally i agree it is defo overrated, sure it feels good ( i wouldn't know im only 16) but it isn't everything. theres too much pressure on people to be very sexually active these days you shouldnt feel ashamed if you havent had sex by 20 or 30 or whatever

the main people that trash women is men just because they can't have you because you want someone else so that makes you a whore, usually the men that pay the prostitutes is married men or men that can't get it any other way, men mainly talk about sex is because they have sex on the brain almost always, sex between 2 people should remain private it is in this house because our personal life is just that its personal. condoms are not 100% effective they break true enough and i don't make fun of people i try to help them if they need it.

I agree with you!! Some people will find out the hard way...But the media has a lot to do with it. The Radio, songs, Movies, tv shows...It's all about sex these day. So don't buy into the hype because sex isn't everything.

Don't worry about what else say or think about that status. Be true to yourself. But as far as the questions, you are absolutely right to question them. We are a quick fix, convenience store society. We don't take time to get to know people. We are selfish. And I don't know why men are considered cool and women are bad words. It's a serious problem, I believe. But I do think it is changing.

Because they have too much time on their hands. It sounds cool. Talking intelligently doesnt sound cool. Trying to best their friends. The immoral world we live in. Parents are not as strict as in the past. Parents try to be good to their children by giving them and letting them do almost anything the youth wishes. Parents think they will be hated--so--in reality, they will be respected. (If done properly and from an early age)
Keep your beliefs. I admire you for it.

No one would know you're a virgin if you didn't bring it up. If you feel that people are making overtures towards you, there's another answer than just saying: I'm a virgin. In fact, you could be setting yourself up to be taken advantage of, even in a marriage.

Because people are sin-ful by nature. Unfortunantly, it feels good, just like being drunk, high, geeked up, etc...it becomes addictive. But, the world does have the wrong view...you are right, men are praised for doing, what women are called whores for doing.
Nothing wrong with being a virgin....wish i had waited!!!
