As a healthcare provider it is difficult to answer this question because I do not have you here in front of me to do a basic exam of your eyes. If you have been using the eye drops for over a year without problems, it is a big possibility that the pain is unrelated to the drops or even to dry eyes. If I knew positively that it was, I'd tell you to decrease the time between drop administration...in other words: use it more often. However, I'm not convinced that it is the dryness of your eyes. You need them evaluated by a healthcare provider as soon as possible. There are some very dangerous diagnoses that can involve eye pain. We need to make sure that your eye pain is not due to some other medical conditions.

This is not really a first aid issue. First aid is the delivery of basic life saving treatment during an emergency or assisting the comfort of an illness until professional help arrives.

If this a problem as you describe, you should consult your doctor.

get one of those eye masks that you can put in the freezer, i always use that when my eyes hurt, the cold helps cool my eyes down and they feel a lot better.
