Hi,

The front driver and passenger doors are not being recognised as opened, my car is a five door. When the rear doors are open the interior lights turn on but if the front 2 doors are opened the lights in the doors or any interior lights don't come on at all, I've checked all the fuses they seem to be O.k.
This is a problem because if the headlights are on, originally when the key is taken out and the door is opened it will sound a beep letting you know to switch the lights off, But because the doors are not being recognised this doesn't happen either.

Does anyone know where the switch is for both doors and where the fuse is situated in the fuse box as there are some fuses missing and I cannot find the fuse card to see exactly which one it is for this. or has anyone had this problem before and how can I sort it.

it is very possible that you have cracked or broken wiring in the area where the wiring comes through the door. Open the drivers door and peel back the covering over the wiring harness and check it. if there are broken wires, repair them and take the car to the dealer to have the BCM reset...everything should work ok after that. if not....then the vehicle should go to a dealer for corect diagnosis

check the connections behind the door switches there is a black microswitch take it out and see if its full of gunk or check with a continuity tester that it is opening and closing the circuit. Its a pretty basic fault you should be able to fix it yourself. Fords are murder for this. You will see a little black button type thing 1 or 2 screws hold it in place and it will come away in your hand

That light is activated by a black button that pops out. Located near the door hinge. Open the door wide and you will see it. Cept the button won't be out in your case. Fiddle with it and it should pop out. Similiar button is in the glove box. Works on same principle.

Talk with the dealership, if you don't get any where with the service manager, talk to the general manager of the the dealership, if you don't get anywhere there then ask for the owners contact info, and write/call them. If you still don't get anywhere contact VW, most dealerships are independently owned and you might get further with VW as a company. I would also find another VW licensed service center to have your maintenance done at.

it is your door lock switch(es). your swiches are located in the the door latches. there are micro switches that are in the latch its and electronic/ machanical part. You are not able to replace the swicth itself it comes with the whole latch assambly. its and expensive piece and job. your door panal, window regulater assembly and window glass will have to be removed. Good luck.
