I've started walking 3 miles day now, and I was wondering can I lose my belly by doing this only, or will I need to add other workouts for this? I thick waisted and I hate it.

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a great program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. They offer a free 7 day trial, and so far I am very impressed with the product. Try the 7 days and see. It allows you to add the exercise that you do during the day, which increases the amount of calories you can take in. Very Cool!!

You don't lose body fat from specific areas when you excersize. You lose it all over. Just keep walking three miles a day every day and watch your calorie intake (this is IMPORTANT. Even with extra activity if you're not burning more calories than you take in, you won't lose anything.) and you'll be much thinner before you know it. Take a picture of yourself every month so you can track your progress accurately (after a while, you won't be able to tell without the pics).

you will loose some belly fat simply by burning more calories. Some of this weight will come from the midsection. Possibly changing your diet will help. I am 5'3 117lbs (i have droped 10 lbs), and what worked for me was eating approx. 5 small meals a day instead of larger meals . By small I mean like 200 cal. Also watch you fat intake and sugar and white bread(think wheat bread, chicken breast, ect.) also drink lots of water because this will help cleanse you system and speed up your metabolism.

You will also have access to a fully customizable online weight loss software system which uses body type, age, sex, weight and current fitness level to determine the most appropriate amount of food to eat and when. It also includes a training program specific to your body type. Good luck!

Well you need cardio to burn fat. I really recommend you start running or jogging some too! You really want to get your heart rate up so that it burns the fat faster! Split your 3 mile walk into a 1.5 mile run and 1.5 mile fast walk, alternating between the two as you go!
Here is an abdominal workout that I will recommend to you!

Calories in = Calories out.

NO exercise out there can reducte fat in specific places on your body. If you're like the the rest of us 80% of the population and it goies disproportinately to your waist, you're going to have to walk/jog/bike/hike whatever to lose the weight. Oh - and you're going to have to watch your diet for fats and really watch your portion control and eating schedule.

That's all you can do. Toning the stomach muscles and the side obliques can help to "tighten" the look and shape, but getting rid of actual fat is as simple as calories in - calories out.

It is not possible to "spot train" fat away. By walking, and thus increasing your exercise/respiratory/heart rate, your entire body will loose weight and you'll feel better. Walk at a brisk pace, if you can hold a conversation without issue, your walking too slow. If you can only give short responses to questions, your walking at the right pace.
