Having English as my 2ND language, i understand your point and Ive been on the same road before. First remember that, it will take times so don't get disappointed. Just keep having conversations with every one possible and have a small note book on you to record the unfamiliar words. Read lots of articles, books and news paper and high light the words you don't know and of course a DICTIONARY is your best friend to help you out. Watch TV, news and your favorite movies, i even slept with TV on!(occasionally). These are the steps that i took and it helped me a lot and im pretty sure I'll helps you too. GOOD LUCK!
ps. IF you have an access to PC, you could also DOWN LOAD and use MSN ENCARTA dictionary. Beside translation, it will also helps you to pronounce words correctly.

What would help you most, of course, would be speaking with people who had good English speaking skills. You might also try to have an all-news radio station on at home, just playing in the background. That will get you used to the rhythms and tonalities of English. If you take an hour or so to listen to the station, you'll find that the stories repeat every 20 minutes or so, and with each repetition you'll understand more.
When I'm overseas in France or Germany, where my language skills are not so good, I sometimes ask people for directions, just so I can practice.
Good luck, and we English speakers thank you for all your hard work.

Well, don't read here. Believe me, most of the people on Y!A will do anything but improve your English.
"Ive been taking English courses for a whole 6 months but I still don't think I'm very good, especially when it comes to speaking skills. What can I do about that?"

I think it just takes a lot of time and practice to learn any new language. Keep listening to tapes and make yourself speak it often, if you can.
You are doing better than me because English is the only language that I know. I tried learning French and Spanish and still can't speak either one.
Best wishes and congratulations on learning English.

English is a very hard language to learn for sure.
Heck, even some Americans still cannot talk very well with all the slang they use all the time...
Find a teacher to help you out.. Read books, get some videos and study it. Good luck

Talk to people who speak english as their first language (people who speak well). Or get a penpal. Watch lots of english movies, especially ones that you have seen in your native language so it is easier to follow. Just surround yourself in the laguage and it will come much easier to you. You are doing well for only 6 months! Keep it up.

Try reading a children's book in English, or watch TV in English. I find that I learn a language better when I tap into the culture's media.

make friends with people who are fluent in English. the more you speak with them the better your English will get. You'll start to mimic and say things just the way they do.
