You're going to want to go with the one that is a bit loose. The reason I say this is because in the summer time...on when you get warm...your fingers tend to swell a bit. Then once you get pregnant (assuming you two will have kids) your fingers will swell as well...you don't want a ring that is way to tight that you can't get off. You have to make sure you are able to take your rings off in the hospital or they will cut them off...so I would HIGHLY suggest getting the one that is a little loose! :0)

You want the ring to feel secure on your finger and it should take a little work to get it off but you need to time the sizing right because during the summer your fingers swell as well as in the am. I would talk to the jeweler that you will be purchasing the ring from and find out the best time they think you should get sized and what is the best fit. I had originally sized mine to be a bit loose but I kept feeling like it was gonna fall off and it kept rolling to the point the diamond was facing my inner palm. I had to get resized to be a bit snug. Its really up to what works best for you and again teh jeweler will be your greatest assest

It really depends on what season you're buying it in. I know that might sound silly, but think of this ... in the winter your fingers plump up a bit because your body retains more water. If the ring is already a bit snug in the winter, chances are it will fit a little looser in the summer. Also remember that if you are planning to get pregnant, you're going to gain a little bit of weight and you wouldn't want to be unable to wear your wedding band!!!
Once you wear the ring long enough, your finger will begin to form around it. My mom has been married for 25 years and when she takes her rings off, there is a small divot on her finger where those rings sit all the time. It is kinda funny, but that is what will happen. Sooner or later it will fit correctly ... but according to the season and you'll be fine.

I'd go for the slightly larger ring--large enough so you can rotate the ring with your hand, but not so it freely swings around on it's own. When we were looking at rings, the saleswoman suggested the smaller of the two sizes. Instead I opted for the slightly bigger ring, which turned out to be the right choice (think of water retention and, at some point, pregnancy weight). If in the future the ring becomes too big, you can always have a spacer added.

Best to talk to a jeweller about this. You would go with the looser. You can always buy an insert.
As pretty as the ring may be, I don't think it's a great idea to buy a ring that can't be sized. Circumstances change as you grow older, and with having babies and stuff, our bodies' dimensions change. You don't want to be stuck not being able to wear the ring in eight years!

Go into the jewelry store and try it on yourself. Then decide. I don't know if it's a good idea to buy a ring that can never be re-sized again - at some point, it is likely that you will gain some weight, and this ring will not fit you anymore.

Why don't you just get the size in the middle. I am the same as you... halfway between 5 and 5.5 so the jeweller sized it 5.25. Fits perfect! Not to tight not too loose.

Go with the bigger one. You can have a ring guard put in it, if you are afraid of loosing it. In later years ( I know you won't want to hear this) , you will inevitably pick up some weight. It happens to all of us.

I would say loose. But, you should really go with him to get the ring so that you can try it on first.
