A beautiful fish, saw them all the time. Huge and Majestic. Why did Florida change the name?

The name pissed off all those old jews in southern Florida.

Name issues: The goliath grouper was once known as the jewfish, but the Committee of Names of Fishes of the American Fisheries Society changed the name in 2001 after receiving a petition that claimed “jewfish” was offensive to Jews.

I suspect the name "Jewfish" sounded antisemantic. However, if they're big and beautiful it seems like something I might want to have named after me. I'm not Jewish, but it's just that there are so few things named after middle-aged white chicks.
