no, they aren't...in italian you would say "venni, vidi, vinsi"

No, now it's a little bit different. The famous Latin sentence 'Veni, Vidi, Vici', in Italian we say "Vènni, Vìdi, Vìnsi", "Vèhn-nee, Vèè-dee, Vèèn-see", eh like in 'man'.
