you put the windows os cd in the driver restart and the comp[uter will boot up off the cd then you follow what is on screen to reformat and set back up do you have windows os cd & your computer drivers cd if you dont have the back up drivers cd dont even try to format and set up again as your have more problems than you start off with

It would help to know why you are trying to restore?

If this is virus related, using Windows system restore may very well be a useless gesture as the virus will sometimes infect previous restore points.

If your asking how to restore your PC from a manufacturers image (like a factory settings point) stored on a separate partition on your hard drive. This can usually be done by selecting the recovery option as your computer boots and before the windows logo. Or from CD's: put the recovery disk in the drive an press a key to boot from cd. This method will remove a virus if that is the reason for a restore.

system restore...click start..programs....accessories or system tools...then system restore...follow the wizard.
