A global flood was proven impossible long ago.
A flood of that magnitude would have left evidence over every piece of land, not just scattered remnants, there is no evidence anywhere of a global flood.
There is only so much water in our atmosphere. Now I, a student of the Bible, realize that the text says something(probably geysers) under the sea broke open, but even with all the water in the earths crust we would still not have enough water by a longshot.
Another option is a giant comet, which carry large amounts of water, but again, not even close to enough H20, and our planet would be immensely damaged.
Lets say God just made the water appear, and then made it all vanish from our atmosphere when Noah landed. With the amount of water it would take to flood the earth above the Himalayas, approximately 4 times the water presently on Earth, a person would literally drown instantly, only by breathing in the air! And this goes for almost all land mammals.

Another thing that raises a flag is that the scriptures say the ark was made solely out of wood. This in itself is not the problem, as most of the boats of the time were. The measurements were given pointing to an ark nearly the size of the titanic. A boat this size made out of wood would have sunk in the water within minutes, even if there was no cargo aboard. The cargo would have weighted more the boat itself.

Riku-The Grand Canyon's erosion does not match that of a flood, that was ruled out as a possibility long ago.

How long did it rain in New Orleans during hurricane Katrina?? Several days? A week? Look at all the destruction they experienced then. Houses, cars, furnishings, etc. literally floated away. After all that time since the hurricane, they are still trying to rebuild and clean things up to this day. The flooding in New Orleans took only a few days. What would 40 days and nights do? Add to the 40 days the underground geysers opening up. Yeah, that's plenty of water. Had New Orleans gone through this much greater amount of rain, you'd never find it. I doubt that you'd even be able to find the whole state of Louisiana. The ark took MANY YEARS to build and they knew beforehand what the ark was going to carry. Their own lives were dependent on the ark being able to stay afloat successfully. With so much at steak, I think they would have made real sure that things were going to be built properly. How is it that some say parts of what is felt to be the ark have been discovered. Ain't it hard to find or discover something that never existed? With God, NOTHING is impossible..

Actually the flood could have easily happened, and it did leave reminents, and if you are a student of the Bible, then you did not go deep enough into the word and did not take into account some theories we have,
Did it ever occur to you that when the first life emerged there was only oceans and water? So how could it live at all? And also, you are saying we are star dust, how do you know what the stars are made of? When have you been out there? There are two unspoken assumptions you just made right there.....
Also, just an example of the reminents, the Atlantic Ridges... Grand Canyon...... Come on, dude if you're at least going to pretend to study the Bible then take in all the theories not just one........

To me its rather obnoxious that people still try to take so much in this anchient anachronistic text seriously. By simple reading it in the modern age you inherintly take it out of its context and there is no way a modern human could in fact understand it. Ive read the bible, and both the new and old testament are honestly rather savage and primative, and their concept of ethics simply does not fit with the modern world. In the US in 2007, you do not inherit the sins of your ancestors. Somehow people dont mind the contradiction of having modern ethical standards while trying to fit them into this primative text. the two will not, fundamentally, go together.
Furthermore, when the bible was written, they did not have some concept of truth or falsehood with literature or whatever that we have today. They wouldnt understand the concept of identifying your sources or being objective. That wasnt the point to them. The people who wrote the bible were not aiming at scientific truth, and if you can in fact recognize their methodology then its possible to find a lot of wisdom in the bible, albiet its translation to something reasonable in the modern era would be tricky.
I really have no clue why people try cling to the bible as if it is axiomatic. I dont know how they can fool themselves that they really are. Nobody acts today like people did back then, if they did then they would surely end up in jail.

It does not exactly scare me that people see the Bible as a history book or a time line. Although if carried to an extreme this can and does cause problems. I think these people are missing most of the point.

sure. those activities have taken position. Adam and Eve were God's first created human beings, Noah outfitted an ark to save his relatives from the flood, Abraham replaced into keen to sacrifice his in undemanding words son because God informed him to. The bible is previous, contemporary and destiny historic previous. study it, and may God open your eyes to work out the actuality......

I take the story literally and yet I'm not scared that people don't take it literally and that the world is following a course set by the rejection of the bible, because I know in whom I have believed.
edit:
True christians are not in power and they don't change the course of this world. They do benefit from the evil that those who reject the truth do though.

Some things are beyond our comprehension. Are we so egotistical that we can't fathom these things happening? I know the Atheists get so tired of this word but what is happening to our FAITH?? Science is dictating so many and it is truly scary to ME that we have lost sight of that.
