We should support Israel as long as God supports Israel. Which will be till forever more. They are his chosen people which he brought up out of Egypt. As for the issue concerning Israel not backing God, all through out the Old testiment (too many to list), the Jews have turned away from God so many times it isn't funny. What happens though is that God would punish his people and they would come to realize what they are doing wrong and come back to him. On some occasions, even though God would bring in another people to punish the Israelites, afterwards, God would then punish those that oppressed his people. They are the descendants of Abraham and as long as we bless them then we too sall be blessed in return.
Something interesting I saw, although I can't remember who the guy was but he was on TBN I think. He actually was making connections to "natural disasters" everytime land was trying to or being taken from Israel. I was a bit sceptical myself but with this last tornado disaster the US had I became curious. Not your normal tornado storm by my standards. I began to check the news, and I'll have you know at the same time the King of Jordan was to meet with Bush to try and talk him into convincing Israel to take the peaceful route, which means giving up some land. Think on that for awhile. Just like these two events could be connected that guy had a growing list of them.

How can you support a nation that causes monstrosities to other nations.
God chose the People of Abraham and Jacob and ie the Children of Israel above all other nations, for a special task, to be Priests and Rabbis to the world.
But time and time again they the Jews murdered their Prophets that came to them with clear signs, look what they did to Moses and his brother Arron, kept on asking for miracles after they witnessed the liberation from the bondage of Egypt.
And one of the Greatest men ever to walk the earth Jesus son of Mary, look what they did to him.
God promised to Abraham the land and goodness, but his children have received the land, who do you think the Arabs are, these are children of Abraham.
America is protecting Israel cos they want the Jerusalem for themselves and the Senate are governed by Jewish people

God made a promise to Abraham. His linage would be the linage of the Christ. Those same Hebrews killed Jesus for saying he was God. "If yea have seen me, you have seen the Father" The Hebrew race is special in God eyes but they reject Jesus as Messiah. The end time according to Revelation will concern saved people and Jews. There are many belief concerning the end time. As you grow christian you will come to your conclusions on your own. The political situation of today are something different. Some things You can agree with and somethings you cannot. Hebrews have a place with God but Hebrews have disobeyed God before. The scriptures testify of that fact. Good luck with your search.

Good question ...I have struggled with the same issue in the light of the disgusting behaviour of the modern state of Israel & the way they are using such brute force to manage the Palestinians. However , if you study the book of Genesis say starting with Chap 12 :2-3 you will read of the promise of God to Abram that from him would come a great nation that would bless all people of the earth .The following chapters tell of the life of Abram (Abraham ) , his descendants inc Isaac , Ishmael , Jacob & Joseph & the renewal of the promise made originally to Abraham & then to his descendants .
From that it is clear that God has a special r'ship with the Jewish people .Sure they have turned their backs on his Son , Jesus , but in God's timing they will realise that he is who he says he is & fulfil their role in God's master plan.

i, like you, am not educated enough on this exact subject - however, are you proposing by "support" that that is to enable warfare being brought upon those against Israel?
Because if you are then surely the word Christian certainly does NOT mean what i believed and was taught as a Roman Catholic (no longer practising) a Christian is....
confused...

So far aas I can tell from the life and teachings of Jesus; you should support them because if you love and respect him you sjould respect him as a good Jew. His was approached by the Samaritans and asked to dine with them. He replied to this that he did not come to be with the dogs under the table but to dine with the masters at the table....meaning he came for the Jews. I know he was shocked by the devoutness of the gentiles. He did not come to start a new religion. In the first couple of hundred years after his death, Christianity was just another sect of Judiasim. So, if you are devout you should stand with the those he came for.

"And I will bless them that bless thee[Abraham], and him that curseth thee will I curse" Genesis 12:3
Rashi (a Jewish commentator on the Torah) says that the verse is written in an inverted form because G-d is eager to bless, but hesitant to curse. Even those with the mere thought of blessing will be blessed, but those that curse will not be cursed unless the curse has actually passed their lips.
I happened to study this section of the Torah earlier this year, so I thought I'd help you out with the source of the quotation. Oh, and thanks so much for the support- it means a lot, we Jews are less than 1% of the population, we need all the help we can get :)

Look at it this way. What religion has the right to claim any kind of superior hold over anyone else. The Bible says that NO man is any more holy then the next, But the catholic church elects a pope, considered to be the most holy next to god.
I don't care if your a christian, jew, muslim, or voodoo priestess, you are all Hippocrates.
We are all human-F*****G-beings. Wake up and lets treat each other the way you would want to be treated.

Let a knowledgeable Christian explain why it is a biblical mandate for Christians to support the Jewish people and Israel.
