well first off, 800 calories a day is an unhealthy amount. try about 1,200. you need the energy if you are going to excercise. drink a lot of water. take like a gallon with you everywhere. drink it even when you don't think you are thirsty.

hi, congrats on your plans to lose some weight. I do have some criticism of you plan however. Let me start by saying that im a medical student, im not yet a doctor or a dietician.

If you cut back to 800 calories per day you are in fact hurting yourself more than helping. Your body's basal metabolic rate is probably somwhere around 1300-1500. This is the amount that your body will burn with absolutely no exercise. Its what your body needs to just to keep alive, ie breath, kidney finction, heart beat. If you go below you basal rate for any extended period your body will begin to waste. Not only will the fat go away but your muscles as well. It is a good prediction that you will also become lethargic.

The faster weight is lost, faster and easier it is to put back on as soon as you resume your regualr lifestyle or stop exercising. The current opinion is that it is healthy to lose 1-2 lbs per week. This is easily done by cutting about 500 or so calories from your diet per week (7*500 = 3500 calories = 1lb). Losing more than this weekly results not from fat loss but muscle wasting. Weight lost in this fashion results in a continual weight loss and it is much easier to keep off. Cutting extreme amount of calories results in rapid initial weight loss but quickly comes to halt as your body prepares to fight the effects of starving.

Exercising will only make it that much easier to lose weight. 3 hours however is not needed. Spending that much time daily exercise will eventually lead to burning out and desire to skip your exercise session. a little over an hour is a good amount of time if you are working hard.

And finally treat yourself now and then. If there is a food you like but know its really fattening then have it say once every two weeks... something to look foward too and will help you stay on track with your diet.

Good luck.

You will die! Or, at least end up in the hospital for exhaustion. Go for 1200 calories. If you do an hour of cardio a day and burn 500 calories for six days a week, it is a pound of fat a week you will loose. Add a half hour of weights, low just to tone up and that is another 500-750 calories. Alternate upper and lower body every day. Take one day a week to rest. Eat one non diet meal a week to give your system a boot. Do not drink alcohol. You will be fine and maybe even loose the weight sooner than that like August. One more thing, I know it sounds crazy but don't weigh yourself. Measure your inches once a month, arms, chest, waist, hips, then thighs. Muscle weighs more than fat so this way you won't be discouraged.

Yeah, you will lose weight... you will also end up in the hospital =(

Exercising is a great idea, but don't overdo it. To start, try 30-60min per day for 5 days per week. Try mixing cardio (which will directly burn fat) w/strength training (will will build muscle & use extra calories)

Cutting out extra sodium and refined sugar is a great start. Be sure you get the protein you need -I am a vegetarian, too =) A combination of rice & beans will give you the protein you need, so will tofu.

But, really -don't cut your calories so drastically. If you are exercising regularly & eating well the weight will come off -I promise!

The program you have set for yourself (800cal. per day w/3hrs of exercise) is just going to set you up for failure.
Even if you are able to keep up that pace, you will starve your body of what it needs to survive. Soon, your body will start using muscle for it's energy needs (normally the body uses fat for energy) When you lose muscle, you will be more hungry, you will be weaker and you can do serious irreversible damage to all of your organ systems.
Please, be smart about it and good luck!

Wo down, I think you'd be exhausted if you did all that. 800 calories isn't much at all. September is 6 months away! I lost 14lbs in a month and that was eating about 1200 calories. You can eat way more than that to lose 40lbs in 6 months. Honestly you'll faint or something doing all that exercise every single day and eating that little. Try weight watchers it's far more healthy and you are not as likely to put it all back on, because you'll never stick to that diet and exercise regime for ever.

You will not have the energy to go for 3 hours a day on 800 calories. That is far to few. Also 3 hours is a bit excessive. You will probably burn yourself out and give up. Try something more realistic, like 45 mins of cardio a day and light weights every other day. Plus eat atleast 1000 calories a day. My suggestion is 1200.

Your body is used to burning 2000 cal a day and if you drop down to 800 (yes you will le some weight) you body will become used to this life style and you will stop losing weight...therefore you will more than likely beginto get frustrated with not being able to lose any more so you will drop you cals again..so on so on until you become so frustrated you will go back to eating like you used to and there for you would gain bak every thing plus more...it frustrating thing to think about but...my serious advise would be to see a trainer and get help with your goals....most trainers will tell you a healthy weight to lose each week is round 2-4 pounds...good luck

One of the many things that bothers me is diets. Dieting does not have the answer however excercise does. Dieting simply causes the body to get into "starvation mode". What happens then is that the body cuts off the amount of energy it uses, the person dieting feels sluggish, lack of energy. Then 1/2 of all food consumed gets converted into fat, and to make up the protein required in the diet, the body then starts to metabolize it's own muscle content. For that reason, most dieters will actually GAIN fat from dieting. Best way to go is eat what you want and then stick to some kind of physical activity, or sport.

Good grief, you will KILL yourself doing that. You don't need to work out that much to loose weight, and you need to eat more.

A recommended calorie intake for weight loss is 1200-1500. For workouts, you should do 30 minutes of cardio, 5 days a week, and weight training sort of things every other day. If you feel like you want to work out every day, do something like yoga two days a week.
A healthy per week weight loss is one to two pounds. I guarantee if you do the above things you will loose that much weight, at least. You should be able to loose 35-40 pounds by September. But check your BMI to make sure you really need to loose that much. Could you please tell us your height?

I, myself, am a vegetarian, so, I feel as though you are on the indirect verge of simply put, death. Do NOT exercise for 3 hours and expect yourself to last on 800cals!!! ESPECIALLY if you are not consuming enough nutrients!! If you're going to be that physically active, and want to lose weight, then drink LOTS of water, eat LOTS of protein and veggies/fruits. I'm assuming you're smart enough to keep yourself nourished while you do this. Eggs, beans, green leafy veggies, ...stock up. And if you happen to be vegan, God help you. Good luck!!
