What resolution should I use to get prints sized 24"x48"? I am using an Olumpus E500 8MP.Should I use TIFF?

I am planning to do a family portrait and I want it to be 24"x48". What resolution/file type should I use?

Sorry, but you do not have enough resolution to get a clear print that large. High detail images like faces need clarity, and it isn't there when you expand 8MP that much.

I suggest that you go to a good poster print lab and get their advice on how big a pic they could deliver based on your camera's capability.

Or hire a pro with a large format film camera to take the image. These can be enlarged much bigger.
