A pastor can never compromise the inerrant word of God, no matter what the cost. I also think they shouldn't compromise their days off as their family life will suffer and this will cause problems in itself. I believe the calling of a pastor to be one of the hardest jobs there is.
They may compromise on paint colors, music styles, church start time ... the minor things. Peace :-)

A pastor should not compromise the word of God , his congregations trust, his own testimony. But not just during a service, in his life as well. A pastor can compromise his physical comfort, a friendship with a member of the congregation if by preaching God's word that member takes offense (although every effort should be made to help the offended one, without compromising the Word). I'm sure there are many other things that can/cannot be compromised.

Jesus Christ is the son of God, born into the world to pay the price for our sins. He was executed and suffered the punishment of death that we might be set free from it. On the third day after, He rose again, and commanded His disciples to spread the news of His gospel everywhere, that the most people might be saved. If you refuse Jesus, then you refuse His protection from the consequences of your sin, and stand alone on Judgement Day- a thing nobody can afford to do. These are the essential truths of Christianity that no pastor should ever compromise or back down from. Matters such as dress, music, participation of church members in services- these he may compromise on as much as his church will tolerate. One other truth that should never be compromised: the promise of salvation is open to all, regardless of race, income, job, past history, personal feelings, etc. We are saved by grace, not by the actions of ourselves or a pastor.

Holiness and the truth of God's Word. He will give account to everything he teaches. The Bible says there will be a stricter judgment for teachers.

MK 12:13 Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words. 14 They came to him and said, "Teacher, we know you are a man of integrity. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.
