If the Holy Spirit calls a person then they can repent and believe and be saved. If a person says they are a christian but they haven't repented of their sin and don't have the Holy Spirit that isn't being a true christian.

For me it was sheer desperation. I was ready to kill myself. I unwittngly put myself in His hands. And then there was this barber (I needed a haircut) who began to tell me about Jesus. He was an ex-Roman Catholic steeped heavily into Chick tracts. But he didn't steer me wrong, and even healed my nose! ( I had the inability of breathing out the left side).
I did the "Sinner's Prayer" alone in an unlit bedroom some time later. And I was in for a big surprise! But I won't go into that now.
I continued because God made sense to me after that. and I have been learning to trust Him ever since.

a savior, we are living in a sinful wordls. Although we are not exempt from sin, Jesus loves us, not just christians, but all men enough to wash our sins away with His blood. It's just you have to believe on Him and really trust Him. You'll be amazed, but God is real. I just like to tell peopel to grow in God, not religion. I don't go to every church service my church have, but I love God. Religion does that to you, make you captive. But Christ i've come to set the captive free. Get a good bible and read it. When I first started I got an NIV version, so I can understand it, and I starte with the book of Matthew, who introduces Christ and from there you realize the love He has for us.

For the hope and joy that comes from knowing Jesus as their personal Savior.
Acts 20:24 says
"I do not count my life dear to myself, but that I may finish my life with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus to testify to the gospel of the grace of God."
Plus my God loved me so much to send His Son Jesus to die for me, why shouldn't I give my life accepting Him and serving Him?

For some it's a family thing. For others it's social like going to a tavern. For many it's about the guilt trip - to avoid going to hell. For some it's about getting into heaven.

some people need to be humbled and defeated before they decide to look for God ... broken heart .. broken spirit ... no will to go on ...there is no winning in this life without God ... people can rage all they want about how the world would be better off without God .. and how religeon is for brainwashed people ... watever ... in the end ... in this life ... without God there is no reason or purpose only nothingness and despair ...

Most often it is because their parents were and they are told to. That and they are told never to question, just accept what someone tells them. Why bother to learn when being ignorant of other cultures and religions is easier?

because christian believe in God, Jesus,and the holy spirit.
we also believe in the baptism. we know for sure that God sent his son Jesus to die for our sins in the cross so we could be forgiven from our sins. God can do miracles if you believe in your hard and if you have faith.
