You can start off by praying and have faith. God will help you find the answers.I think that you should tell your parents in a letter, or card. Sometime we as people can understand things better when we write them down and then reading sinks in better. Just simply tell them how you feel. It is not hard when you tell people the truth. I know you can do it. It will feel hard but just take a deep breath and it will be okay. God has your back. God Bless. It may feel good talking to people on yahoo answers all of them aren't mean and obnoxious.

There seem to be a bunch of scientologists on yahoo answers that take every opportunity they can to try and persuade people not to seek treatment. Don't listen to them. You always have to be careful when you see a psychiatrist, but don't believe that they will ruin your life.
Anyway, as far as telling your parents how you have been feeling... the best thing is to explain to them with as much description as possible. They should not get mad at you! Most likely they will be scared because theur child has been suffering. Tell them that you are sad all of the time. Let them know why it is interfering with your life and that you need to talk to someone. Your parents may say, "Well, talk to us!" That's fine, but remind them that you really would like to be seen by a professional. I think that if you start into some kind if counseling now, you will benefit. A counselor can decide if he/she thinks you need medication. Then the counselor will refer you to a psychiatrist. If your parents don't listen to you or refuse to get you help, see a school counselor and tell them what has been going on. If that gets you nowhere, find a local mental health clinic and go there. Good luck!

I know what your going through. I was very depressed for about a year because I was raped. I didn't know how to tell my parents. But I went to the doctor and went to see a physiologist. It helped. I Finlay told my parents and they didn't freak out as much as I thought they would. In the end they was glad I got help. They were upset that I didn't tell them but was glad that I finally did. So talk to a school counselor or talk to your doctor. They can help I hope anyway.

Do NOT listen to the advice of the first poster, 'psychiatrist1954'.
He is a scientologist. He works for a cult. If you think you're depressed, see a counselor at school or talk to someone you trust who is an adult and who will not betray your trust.
As for your parents, tell them you think you would like to talk to a therapist, simply because you're very unhappy and nothing else seems to help.
