I would probably buy a few little things he might want, and ask him what he would really like.
Then choose from there. Otherwise if he won't say, then almost anything goes. Maybe 60 small prezzies from the pound store nearby.

Check in your area for a company that does Yard Cards - I did this for my dad on his 60th and it was a lot of fun. I sent him a Yard Card of a flock of flamingoes with a big sign that said "The Flock is in Shock, Joe Smith is 60!" I did an internet search for Yard Cards and found someone near him to provide the service - set up for the day & take down.

Give him a $60 gift card to his favorite restaurant, sporting goods store, or whatever he really likes.

If he doesn't get out much, this will encourage him to go have a good time somewhere.

If he does "paint the town red" frequently, get him a gift card to Blockbuster -- he may need to stay home more! =;o)

Try and see if you could get a newspaper from the day he was born. So he could see how its all changed. You can order them from the internet but I don't know where or how?

A silver cigarette case if he's a smoker or a rolled gold ball pen if he's a writer...that's if you think the world of him. Or just perhaps a birthday card.

How about a stripper?

{ I meant a wall-paper stripper. An electric steam stripper costs about 30 pounds sterling and is likely to outlast your brother }
